Army Hospital Cave

Cat Ba Island was actually once a fairly strategic lookout point during the war (hence Cannon Fort), but that also meant there was a lot of bombing around the place. This led to the construction of Hospital Cave. If it isn’t clear, those nifty Vietnamese built themselves a hospital… In a cave! Ingenious.

It’s quite impressive how it’s done, however, there’s little to explain things if you go in without a guide. Without a guide, you’ll essentially be wandering through a multi-level cave building with a whole heap of empty rooms. Get a guide guys (you’ll get offers at the entrance).

The cave is located on the same road out to the national park, so getting there can be tricky. You’ll be paying 20,000 VND to get in.

National Park

Cat Ba National Park is the first national park in Vietnam which includes both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Covering the area of 26,300 hectares, the landscape of Cat Ba National Park is dominated by karts limestone areas on the main island where there are numerous waterfalls, caves and grottoes.

Cat Ba's beautiful national park is home to 32 types of mammal, including most of the world's 65 remaining golden-headed langur; the world's most endangered primate. There are some good hiking trails here, including a hardcore 18km route up to a mountain summit.

There is a forest type is the type of evergreen tropical rain forest, but due to terrain conditions, land and water regimes, so there is some kind of secondary forests: forests on limestone mountains, mangrove forests along the island, freshwater marsh forest on the mountain. Forests here are also many unique types of forests as ecological associations Kim Affairs (in the region near the peak of Ngu Lam).

Being the roof of Cat Ba Island, Ngu Lam Peak offers visitors a gorgeous view of the island. Experiencing a trekking to the peak will give you a rate chance to have a deep insight into the natural beauty as well as unique culture of the locals.

Cannon Fort

For one of the best views in Vietnam – no, we’re not kidding – head to Cannon Fort where there are astounding panoramas of Cat Ba Island's jungle-clad hills rolling down to colorful tangles of fishing boats in the harbor and out to the karst-punctuated sea beyond.

The entrance gate is a steep 10-minute walk from Cat Ba Town and from the gate it's another stiff 20-minute walk to the fort, or take a xe om from Cat Ba Town (15,000d).

Well-labelled paths guide visitors past underground tunnels, and two well-preserved gun emplacements (one ‘manned’ by life-size Viet Minh mannequins), out to two viewpoints overlooking the island. There's even a cafe (with more great views from its terrace) and a tiny museum.

The tunnels and gun emplacements here were first installed by the Japanese in WWII, but were also utilized by the French and Vietnamese during subsequent conflicts

Beaches

No island would be complete without it’s beaches!

In Cat Ba has hundreds of large and small beach, but clusters Cat Co beaches (Cat Co 1, 2, 3) is where a lot of tourists to the most by the rich natural landscape.

Cat Co 1 beach is wide and beautiful, lying around under the mountain, surf year round, fresh air and clear waters, is where a lot of tourists to rest and shower. Cat Co beach 2 has a little serenity and mystery. Cat Co 3 beach bear quite modern colors.

On the shore, outside entertainment area is the population hostel -style small villa to suit every family. Although the beach is not attractive as Cat Co beach 1 and Cat co beach 2, this is where many waves and quite deep, suitable for good swimmers. Finished swimming, relaxing on sandy beaches or enjoying drinks and seafood specialties, you'll feel all the beauty of the sea, especially at sunset.

Cat Co beach 1

Look away, toward the end of the beach, there is a small bridge connecting Cat Co beach1 and Cat Co beach 2 as silk squeezed through the mountains. Go over bridge to Cat Co 2 beach, crab crossing obscured the mountain, a new sky is wide open and a beautiful beach and a wild mix out front. Here, visitors can swim, relax enjoy the sun and fresh breeze blowing in from the ocean. 

Come to Cat Co beach 3. This is the newest tourist destination of Cat Ba Island. Cat Co beach 3 is quite beautiful building and modern tourist services here quite perfect from the beach, relax, eat and drink.

Tung Thu beach

This is an investment beaches are being put to use. Here beach freak waves and quieter Cat Co beach. Tung Thu beach of Cat Ba town is about 2 km away towards the jungle of Cat Ba. 

Monkey Island beach

Monkey Island is a small island located 2km from Cat Ba town. Beach is approximately 1 km in length, located on Monkey Island and beaches called the Pineapple Cat. This is really beautiful beach of Lan Ha Bay. Here, new visitors really feel the beach in Gulf by sea in this absolutely clear and clean. 

To reach Monkey Island, tourists traveling from station Beo boat, Cat Ba town about 2 km. In fact, at Monkey Island has a smaller beach called Pineapple beach. This beach is mainly for high-end tourists including visitors and international tourists Vietnam. It offers resort -style Resort - Monkey Island Resort with the traditional housing (thatch, bamboo, leaves). If you do not want loud, this is the ideal destination of Cat Ba Island.
